A BLOG ABOUT GOING-TO-SLEEP SLEEP FANTASIES

This is a blog about sleep and I thought you guys would rather see these girls on a bed than me. Anyway here's the story.

I'm the only person I know who actually was objectively aware at the exact moment when rambling, try-to-fall-asleep fantasies turned into full-blown sleep. It came about because the phone rang at just that moment and I woke up with the memory still intact. Of course I wrote it down immediately. Here's how it played out.....
I was tired and in order to get to sleep I fantasized about being at a party. Of course the girls at the party all thought I was incredibly sexy and the guys all thought my ideas were brilliant. As the party progressed and my real body came closer and closer to sleep I began to wonder if the dream couple near me were saying things that I hadn't scripted. I thought I was imagining it at first, after all it was my fantasy and people had to say what I wanted them to say. After a moment I realized that I wasn't imagining it. They were speaking independently and it was really bothering me. Then I noticed what was happening to the furniture!

The table leg was slowly sprouting a dull-orange fuzz. This was just as disconcerting as the unscripted dialogue and I was mad that was loosing control over things. I cast a dirty look at the errand couple then shot another glance back at the table leg. The leg was still growing long, orange fuzz and now so was the sofa beside it. In a panic I looked all over the room and saw that everything, even the people were beginning to spout orange fuzz.

Whenever the fuzz from two sources touched each other the fuzz formed a haze of dirty orange color. "No, No , " I thought, "Stop with the haze! I order it!" but the haze areas kept growing. Then I thought, "What the heck! The haze is kind of interesting. So what if the picture and sound is going off? Let it happen!" The universe was disintegrating hand over fist when the phone rang.

Oops! I wrote "sleep" twice in the title. That's because I really am sleepy!

I am a deep sleeper and have very vivid dreams. I've always hated how I can't remember them for more than a few minutes after I wake up. The funny thing is that if I wake up from a dream and then fall back asleep I can continue the dream as if nothing happened.

I have all sorts of cool adventures in my dreams, too bad I can't remember any of the details!

I do that a lot. The most memorable one happened about a decade ago.

As I drifted off, for some reason, I was hanging around with some of the superlaser tech guys on the Death Star - you know, the ones who duck when that huge green beam goes through the subway tunnel behind them? - when I hear ringing. One of those guys with that huge helmet that hangs over the back of his neck turns to me and says in a tightly clipped British accent, "Isn't that your phone?"

-vorp-

Suddenly I'm wide awake, listening to my phone ring once, and then stop. Whoever it was didn't leave a message.

I had the opposite happen to me once. I had a dream where I, Alan Alda, and many many gorgeous ladies played a game of "strip pool volleyball". Since we were all wearing one-piece swimsuits, the game was over quite quickly. But, wouldn't you know it, just as one of the girls and I were about to get "friendly", my alarm rang and I actually said to her "I've gotta go" before waking up.

Eddie, you weren't dreaming. I've been to your house. The furniture really IS covered with orange fuzz. It comes from your old suits.

Hey, what are you doing this weekend? I just picked up a copy of The FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS - starring everyone's favorite pedophile, Roman Polanski. Wanna watch it tonight?

I have had some lucid dreaming, where I can consciously interact with the setting, but the setting was already put in place by the dream fairies.

Oddly enough, the first time this happened, where I got conscious control of my interactions, was from a Warner Brothers cartoon, where Bugs is visiting the Mad Scientist at his castle, and they are chasing each other in slow motion (come...here...you...rabb....bitt).
I just happened to be along on the chase for some reason. I don't dream of cartoons too often.

This sort of slow motion action is very similar to how flying (without planes) occurs in my dreams... a series of slow falls or leaps that turn into extended floating.

Since April I've started keeping a dream log. It's very handy because recently I've read an article that teaches you to control your dreams. I've gotten the hang of it, but it sucks when I lose control the sexy twi'lek stops saying sexy things to , this actually happened, "want some Aflac?"

Dunno, I usually stick to dreams that I'm bargain hunting for Star Wars collectibles nowadays. Mind if I add you to my links?
